Mid Year Concerts – Lights, Camera, Action!

Saturday 30th June was the big day of our mid-year concerts, both on the same day!

Lights, Camera, Action was a performance of routines to music from popular TV shows, movies and musicals. Students showcased what they have learnt all semester and boy was it great!

Teachers and Showtime staff are so proud of everyone who got up on stage and gave us their all. We saw so many smiles out on that stage and also a lot of fun and bonding to be had backstage. Concerts really bring the school together and it's so great to see everyone working as a team.

Congratulations to all of the students who received the encouragement award for their class, and also our two performance awards selected on the night and presented to Ava G (junior) and Ava J (senior). Must have been a lucky name!

RAC Christmas Pageant 2017

The 45th annual RAC Christmas Pageant was held on Saturday 2nd December. Showtime HMS Performing Arts were lucky enough to once again be selected to perform in the streets of Perth.

This year we had 27 dancers all dressed in bright & colourful candy themed costumes to match the Candy House float. We had students dressed as gingerbread men, candy canes, licorice allsorts and smarties, all with fun candy headpieces!

The students had a great time and we had the best weather this year, not too hot and not too cold!

A longer route to dance than previous years however all of our students did us proud and kept smiling the whole way. We could hear the children in the audience getting excited over our licorice allsorts head pieces and having a giggle at Miss Sophie in her full piece Gingerbread costume.

Channel 7 gave us some wonderful air time on TV Sunday night of our girls dancing and waving. Congratulations to everyone at Showtime involved with the planning, rehearsals, costumes and the performers - we are so proud of the outcome. We also wish to thank the Channel 7 team for having us for another year in the Christmas Pageant, we look forward to applying again next year.

If you missed us on TV watch our video below! And dont forget to check out our Facebook album for more photo's!

Armadale Christmas Parade

It's that time of year again! Time to get in to the Christmas spirit!!

Showtime students have been at the studio for extra rehearsals these past few weeks to rehearse for our Christmas parade performances.

First up was the Armadale Christmas Parade held in conjunction with the Carols By Candlelight on Friday 1st December. Our performers were dressed in Christmas themed costumes including candy canes, Christmas tree's, angels and more.

We were lucky to be the first walking group in the parade to set the scene and our dancers did a beautiful job dancing their way down Jull St.

Visit our Facebook album for more photo's from the parade.

Kwinana Dance Festival 2017

So that's another competition season over for the year! Congratulations to all students who competed in the Kwinana Dance Festival over the school holidays. Every dancer that hit the stage had improved on their own previous performances - as we say "It's not about being the best, it's about being the best that you can be!". We had quite a few students who were competing for the very first time and you would never have known, we hope you all enjoyed the experience and will continue to compete in the future. Thank you to Miss Helen, Miss Jay & Miss Georgia for teaching the students their competition routines and supporting them over the holidays.

Australian Dance Festival Sydney Tour 2017

Thursday September 14th marked the day we would be departing for Sydney! Students were rushing out of school early to meet at the airport and full of excitement. This year we had a much smaller group heading on the tour of 7 students, 2 teachers and 2 parents.

Friday morning we had a bit of time to relax and wander around the area of Sydney Olympic Park before heading to the centre for 3hrs worth of dance workshops. For the seniors the day started with our good friend from Phly Crew, Neale Whittaker, teaching a contemporary workshop. The junior students starting their day with a jazz class with Stephen Perez. After the workshops we headed back to the hotel for some dinner and then continued the night with a range of showcase performances and the Australia's Best Dance Crew competition.

Saturday was a busy day with 5 hours of workshops with Australia's best choreographers. Students learnt a range of styles including commercial jazz, hip hop, contemporary and breakdance. By the end of the day the students were exhausted and their brains about to pop with so much new choreography. Another quick dinner & shower at the hotel and then it was back to the centre for more performances. This evening we witnessed the Australia's N.E.X.T Choreographer competition and were blown away with pieces by Neale Whittaker, Rob McLean, Lucy Doherty, Cat Santos and more.

For the seniors Sunday came with a much needed sleep in. Unfortunately for the 2 junior students of our group they had another early start for their last few workshops - but they were able to rest and explore in the afternoon. The seniors then had their last workshops in the afternoon followed by one last evening of amazing performances. After the festival we watched Marko Panzic's Dream Dance Tour show "Enter The Vortex" choreographed by Sarah Boulter who some of our students took class with during the weekend.

Our last day of the trip we did some exploring of Sydney, starting with Darling Harbour and Madame Tussaudes wax museum. The students had a blast getting selfies with all the stars and some even got a wax model of their own hand made. Next we caught the ferry underneath the bridge to Circular Quay for some lunch. Students explored around the Opera House, and its gift shop, and more photo's were taken to add to the memories. Finally we ended our day with a walk through town to The Escape Hunt Experience where we split up in to two teams and battled it out to see who could find Harold Holt first! Then it was time to head to the airport where everyone enjoyed looking around the shops and of course getting some Krispy Kremes.

We hope everyone who joined us on the Sydney Tour had a great time and we are looking forward to going back to the Australian Dance Festival for 2019!
