Welcome Miss Elena Fey

Our Showtime family was incredibly happy to meet our newest family member Elena Fey Rogers after Miss Miranda gave birth in April!  Miss Miranda is one of our longest running students here at Showtime and teaches our students in various styles including jazz, tap and hip hop. Miss Miranda was also our very first Student of the Year in 2004. We are so excited to introduce Elena and can’t wait for her to follow her mum’s footsteps here at Showtime. Congratulations Miss Miranda & partner Kaleb!

State Dance Association Exams

At the beginning of 2019 Showtime HMS  had introduced both ballet and jazz State Dance Association exam classes into the timetable. These exam classes included new material and techniques being taught in preparation to the students’ exams in term 4.

The exam classes required attention, dedication and practice. In class the students learnt a number of exercises, theory, correct terminology and short dances which they had to memorise completely for the exam. Students who were in these exam classes weren’t forced into participating in the exam, so if they felt that they weren’t ready they can remain in the same grade and participate in the exam the following year.

However, those students who were ready to complete their exams had mock exams which helped prepare the students for the real event which was just a few weeks after the mock exams. These mock exams helped students understand how the exam would work and outlined exactly what they knew and what needed some improvement in class before the actual exams.

Mock exams were spread over a few days and were held on Monday 2nd, Thursday 5th and Saturday 7th of September.

The actual State Dance Association examinations were run over two days, Friday 18th and Saturday the 19th of October where they were assessed by an SDA examiner.

A huge congratulations to all student who participated because not only did all our students pass, but everyone received a result of commended (65%) or above.

Showtime HMS Finalist in Business Armadale Awards

This week Showtime HMS received the exciting news that we have been recognised as a finalist for the 2018 Business Excellence Awards for the category Employer of Choice.

The Business Armadale & Examiner Newspaper awards night will be held on Friday 16th November at Araluen Botanic Park where the winners will be announced.

At Showtime HMS we pride ourselves on being able to offer employment opportunities to young people so they can follow their dreams and work in an industry they are passionate about. Our student teacher program helps our students develop the necessary skills to one day become a dance teacher should they wish to take that path, and this year one of our long term student teachers, Gemma, has excelled in the program. After successful application and interviewing Gemma will be joining the Showtime HMS teaching team for 2019.

We cannot be prouder to be nominated and selected as a finalist for this award.

End Of Term Disco

Our last day of term 1 went out with a bang! We held two disco's at the studio after class for our students to have a dance, play some games and meet new friends.

We saw some lovely fancy dress costumes and the students had a blast playing games like musical bobs, musical statues, limbo, hula hoop competitions and dance-offs.

The funds raised from the disco will go towards purchasing props and costume accessories for our mid-year concerts in July.

Armadale Christmas Parade 2016

Friday 2nd December was once again the Armadale Christmas Parade for the Carols By Candlelight. Showtime students performed a re-mix of "All I Want For Christmas" for the Armadale public down Jull Street and towards Minnawarra Park. The students looked lovely in their Christmas themed costumes and with our new pageant signs being held by two of our younger performers. Congratulations to those who participated for another seamless performance.
